Our origin story

Lindsay and Leigh Ann formed COBC to provide effective behavior interventions and flexible service options to families and schools in the central Ohio area.

Leigh Ann M. Shepherd
M.A., BCBA, COBA

Leigh Ann grew up in rural northwest Ohio. She graduated from Lincolnview High School, and attended Ohio Northern University (Go Polar Bears!) with a major in Psychology. While at ONU, Leigh Ann was presented with an opportunity to work as part of a team providing daily intervention and support to a young boy diagnosed with autism. At the time, she had no idea this experience would be the beginning of a career.

After college, Leigh Ann worked at Nationwide Children’s Hospital Center (NCH) for Autism Spectrum Disorders from 2003 to 2011. While at NCH, she pursued a Master's degree in Special Education/Applied Behavior Analysis at The Ohio State University. She subsequently received her national certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in 2011.

In August 2011, Lindsay and Leigh Ann officially launched Central Ohio Behavioral Consulting (COBC).

Leigh Ann and her husband, Patrick, currently reside in Marysville. They have three daughters, Sophia, Nora and Jane.

Lindsay grew up in the small town of Celina, Ohio. After high school she attended Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, majoring in Psychology. While at Capital, Lindsay began working part-time as a behavioral intervention aide at Nationwide Children's Hospital Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders where she developed a passion for working with these amazing kids and their families. Post-graduation, Lindsay continued her career at NCH as a Case Supervisor, developing home intervention programs, working with parents on how to practically apply principles of applied behavior analysis, and collaborating with school staff to develop positive intervention programs in the classroom.

Intrigued by the science behind the work, Lindsay pursued a Master's degree in Special Education/Applied Behavior Analysis at The Ohio State University and subsequently received her national certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Lindsay continued to work at NCH as a Clinical Supervisor.

In 2009, Lindsay pursued an exciting opportunity as the Behavior Specialist for Ohio Virtual Academy. In this role, Lindsay worked in an online setting with students and their parents to develop strategies to manage difficult behaviors in the home schooling environment. Lindsay worked with students who displayed a wide range of behavior and academic needs in grades K-12.

Then, in August 2011, Lindsay and Leigh Ann officially launched Central Ohio Behavioral Consulting (COBC).

Lindsay lives in Delaware, Ohio with her husband, Jason. They have three daughters, Leighton, Caroline and Isla.
